The single tooth implant replaces the traditional temporary replacement and can be more seamless since there is no need to use the surrounding healthy teeth for stability.
An implant is placed at the
site of the missing tooth. It is typically surgically placed at a slight angle to take advantage of available bone. The implant
will be allowed to heal for several months.
Following healing, the top of the implant
is uncovered. The fixed abutment is screwed into the implant body. The abutment is angled to allow for easy completion
of a restoration that is in alignment with the rest of the teeth.
The replacement tooth or crown is cemented
onto the abutment. An esthetic and functional restoration has been completed.
